I am a postdoctoral researcher with IIIA-CSIC, the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute of the Spanish National Research Council in Bellaterra, Barcelona, Spain. I perform research on machine learning and data mining, typically dealing with time series, complex networks, text labels, audio, and multimedia data. I also work, to a much lesser extent, with social and health sciences data.
I was born in Riudarenes, Girona, Spain (1980). I did my undergraduate studies of Telecommunications (2002) and Electronics (2004) at Enginyeria La Salle, Universitat Ramón Llull, and my MSc (2007) and PhD (2011) in Computer Sciences at the Music Technology Group of Universitat Pompeu Fabra, all in Barcelona. During the later period, I was also an adjunct professor with the Dept. of Information and Communication Technologies of the same university (2006-2011). I have made research stays at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems in Dresden, Germany (2010), the Max Planck Institute for Computer Science in Saarbrücken, Germany (2011-2012), and Goldsmiths, University of London, United Kingdom (2012-2013). I have been involved in more than 10 research projects, funded by Spanish and European institutions, and co-authored over 60 publications, some of them highly-cited and in top-tier journals and conferences of diverse scientific areas. I also regularly act as a reviewer for some of those and other publications.
